Mind Laws

All problems are attributable to the mind. It is the mind that makes a man “Humane” leading him to be a great person. It is the discerning mind that makes a man so special and unique from other beings.

Although it cannot be touched, felt or seen, it seems even more intimately connected with us than our body. The mind follows some set of laws similar to physical laws.

(BG 6.5) “atmaiva hi atmano bandhur atmaiva
ripur atmanah.”

It means, for him, who has conquered the mind, the mind is the best of friends; but for one who has failed to do so, his mind will remain the greatest enemy.

The following points give the insight of – how the mind works, and it is common to all. Knowing this, why cannot we take control of our mind by unleashing the potential within us?

  • The mind is the activity of the brain. The brain is the hardware through which the mind operates. The mind is the window to the world.
  • The mind follows the pattern of thought and in the direction of currently dominant thoughts. So the mind is the cause of bondage and mind alone is the cause of liberation. The mind is the best friend and greatest enemy.
  • Thinking is a natural phenomenon both in the conscious and subconscious state. It cannot be stopped – the only thing it has to be replaced with a different thought. While replacing, replace with a positive thought. Choose your thoughts carefully. You are the master of your life, so mindfully aware of your unmanifest and the manifest thoughts. Our predominant thoughts influence our life.
  • Self-Control is the strength. Right thought is Mastery. Calmness is power. The calmness of the mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom. Only a peaceful and calm mind enables clear thinking and makes better decisions.
  • Thought precedes emotion. One cannot have an emotion without having a thought first. Thoughts fuel emotions. Both positive and negative emotions may have influences in each one’s life. Managing and balancing emotions is very important in life.
  • Since thinking most of the time, most of our thoughts are different from reality. Many times it is negative, redundant, and catastrophic. Be mindfully aware of your thought patterns.
  • We do not believe what we see; we rather see what we have already decided to believe. We are programmed over a period of time. Whatever we believe and feel to be true over a period – will become our reality. Be aware of your Limiting Beliefs.
  • Every effect has a cause, and there is nothing like luck. Thought is the cause; events and experience are its effects. So, nurture your mind with great thoughts.
  • Concentration is mental toughness and can be cultivated by controlling our thoughts. Whatever we focus on, our attention grows, and energy multiplies.
  • Multitasking wastes time rather than saving time. The brain naturally focuses on concepts sequentially on one thing at a time, so we can only process effectively one conscious thought at a time.
  • There is no such thing as “good” or “bad” memory, but rather “trained” or “untrained” memory. Like anything else, memory is a skill that can be mastered.
  • The brain has essentially unlimited storage capacity for learning when new information is assimilated gradually into the memory store rather than stuffing it all at one go. If learning happens when there is a pressure to learn, the mind will get stressed, and a stressed mind stops using creative power and does not learn in the same way.
  • Imagination is the mind’s ability to create an experience to remember experientially, and association is the mind’s ability to create a relationship between old and new information’s.

Whoever you are, there is a better person and a hidden power within you. Bring out your true potential to empower your mind.
